When We Grow Impatient: Israel in Exodus 32

Waiting is rarely easy.
In Exodus 32, the Israelites find themselves in a season of uncertainty. Moses has been gone longer than expected, and the people begin looking for something they can see, touch, and control. Their impatience leads them to create a golden calf—a substitute for the God who had already proven Himself faithful.
The story is often remembered for the idol, but beneath the surface is a very human struggle. Waiting can make us restless. When answers seem delayed, it becomes tempting to place our trust in what feels immediate rather than what is eternal.
The Israelites had not forgotten God completely. They simply allowed their impatience to shape their response to uncertainty. In doing so, they exchanged trust for something they believed would provide comfort.
As we continue our 12 Cups of Grace journey, June invites us to consider how we respond when God feels silent or His timing feels slow. Grace often meets us in the waiting, reminding us that God's presence has not disappeared simply because the answer has not yet arrived.
